Apple’s iPhone California is pushing to get digital IDs/driver’s licenses on the ground

California and many other states have been working on the development of digital driver's licenses and ID's as a way to modernize the identification process and provide a more convenient option for citizens. However, it is typically handled by the Department of Motor Vehicle or other Government organizations rather than technology companies like Apple. A digital driver's license or ID would be stored electronically on a person's smartphone, and could be displayed and verified using a secure mobile app. This would make it more convenient for citizens, as they would not need to carry physical IDs with them at all times. Additionally, digital IDs could include enhanced security features, such as biometric authentication, to prevent fraud and identity theft. It is possible that some developments of such an initiative exist for the future, but currently no official announcements about such projects by Apple or California have been made. As a giant tech company, Apple has the capacity to participate in such project but it's notsomething that is publicly announced.
